About

The Liberal Catholic Church International Province of Great Britain and Ireland is closely linked to all the other churches in the LCCI in several ways. These are through:
Our Presiding Bishop

is the current (13th) Presiding Bishop. He was raised to the Office in February 2016

We use the Liturgy that was written and compiled by our Founding Bishops – the first edition of which came out in 1919.
Adherence to the Codes, Canons and Statement of Principles

Our Province, like the rest of the LCCI is governed by the Episcopal Synod, headed by The Presiding Bishop and priests vow to adhere to the Codes and Canons of the Denomination.
Education via our Seminary Curriculum

The Archbishop Charles W Finn Theological Seminary, was established in 1923 and runs a Certificate Program - a 2 year course of study.
Our Priests
In the Province of Great Britain and Ireland, our priests are not expected to be congregational ministers. We are Temple Priests who are encouraged to say the Mass and the Offices of Prime and Complin (Morning and Evening Prayer) daily and to administer the blessings of the Sacraments whenever requested.

Most of our priests carry out their ministry through social action within their daily life and work. Areas of this social ministry vary, according to the individual calling of our priests, and currently this includes work in Suicide Prevention; Spiritual Teaching and Mentoring; engaging in areas such as Death and Dying and social and community support.

All our ministers undergo DBS checks and the Province is now linked to CCPAS and Priests are encouraged to partake in their comprehensive safeguarding training programme if they are contemplating congregational work, or ministry within vulnerable communities.

Other Churches Around the World
The other churches in the denomination around the world are predominantly congregational and so the Province of Great Britain and Ireland works in a unique way as prayer based, itinerant priests, many of whom have home based Oratories for private devotion. We are by nature contemplative and esoteric; however, full support is available to priests wishing to explore a public ministry with regular services and/or the provision of funeral or marriage blessings (according to the Legal requirements of the Provincial Country).

Close links have been made with the clergy in the Provinces of the USA and Australia. It is a relationship which encourages both an exchange of knowledge and skills, and importantly provides two way spiritual support.
