The Liberal Catholic Church International Province of Great Britain is closely linked to all the other churches in the LCCI in several ways. These are through:
Our Presiding Bishop
The Most Rev. Maria Celia Jose, Liberal Catholic Diocese of Arizona and California Pastor, St Michael's and All Angels Liberal Catholic Cathedral, Casa Grande.
She is the 14th Presiding Bishop and the first woman to hold the position. She was elevated to the Office in October 2019. |
The Liberal Catholic Church Liturgy
We use the Liturgy that was written and compiled by our Founding Bishops – the first edition of which came out in 1919.

Our Priests
In the Province of Great Britain our priests are not expected to be congregational ministers. We are Temple Priests who are encouraged to say the Mass and the Offices of Prime and Complin (Morning and Evening Prayer) daily and to administer the blessings of the Sacraments whenever requested.
Most of our priests carry out their ministry through social action within their daily life and work. Areas of this social ministry vary, according to the individual calling of our priests, and currently this includes work in Suicide Prevention; Spiritual Teaching and Mentoring; engaging in areas such as Death and Dying and social and community support. All our ministers undergo DBS checks and the Province is now linked to CCPAS and Priests are encouraged to partake in their comprehensive safeguarding training programme if they are contemplating congregational work, or ministry within vulnerable communities. |
Other Churches Around the World
The other churches in the denomination around the world are predominantly congregational and so the Province of Great Britain works in a unique way as prayer based, itinerant priests, many of whom have home based Oratories for private devotion. We are by nature contemplative and esoteric; however, full support is available to priests wishing to explore a public ministry with regular services and/or the provision of funeral or marriage blessings (according to the Legal requirements of the Provincial Country).
Close links have been made with the clergy in the Provinces of the USA. It is a relationship which encourages both an exchange of knowledge and skills, and importantly provides two way spiritual support.
